OQNI NGO

Oqni NGO is a non-profit organization based in Armenia, established by a diverse team comprising both local Armenians and members of the Diaspora from the US, Canada, France, UK, and Germany. The organization is dedicated to developing a comprehensive system of next-generation prosthetics with integrated rehabilitation support, manufactured and fitted within Armenia, aiming to restore the capabilities of war victims and other amputees at no cost. Committed to fostering innovation, Oqni strives to position Armenia as a center for cutting-edge 3D-printed, AI-driven prosthetics through collaborative research and development initiatives. 

Typical Volunteer Tasks: Volunteers contribute in various capacities. Depending on their level of expertise, some volunteers analyze the organizational structure of Oqni NGO, assess its technological utilization, and understand its overarching goals. Then they can identify operational challenges within the NGO and the local prosthetics industry through surveys and data collection techniques, develop strategies for enhancing NGO performance, and advocate for the adoption of new technologies or methodologies to both internal and external stakeholders. They also oversee the implementation of new technologies and operational systems, conduct workshops, training sessions, and fundraising events, and assist the PR and social media team in marketing and communication efforts, particularly during campaigns. Volunteers with a fundraising background can conduct research to identify potential donors, craft compelling fundraising projects tailored to resonate with prospective donors, reach out to potential donors via various channels, utilize online platforms to facilitate donation drives, organize campaigns and events to solicit donations, maintain comprehensive records of donor information, evaluate the effectiveness of past fundraising initiatives, and ensure compliance with all legal reporting requirements.

NORK MARASH MEDICAL CENTER

Nork Marash Medical Center is a teaching hospital and biomedical research facility in Yerevan, Armenia, focused on cardiac care.

ASSOCIATION OF HEALTHCARE AND ASSISTANCE TO OLDER PEOPLE

Typical Volunteer Tasks: Volunteers may assist in organizing medical conferences to facilitate knowledge sharing and professional development within the healthcare community. Additionally, volunteers play a crucial role in providing home care services for the elderly, ensuring they receive the support they need to live comfortably and independently. The association also offers opportunities for volunteers to engage in various therapeutic activities such as art therapy and occupational therapy, fostering emotional well-being and social interaction among the elderly. Furthermore, volunteers contribute to the organization’s administrative and creative endeavors, including grant writing, video making, content writing, graphic design, and more, to further advance their mission.

BEST LIFE MEDICAL CENTER

Best Life Medical Center is a medical center focused on cardiology. The Center was founded in 2019, and is equipped with modern diagnostic equipment. Their high-precision methods and high-quality specialized equipment used in the centralized and cardiovascular pathology of cardiology and cardiac surgery make it possible to diagnose diseases at the earliest stage of their development, implement modern and effective treatment, and offer preventive advice applicable in each individual case.

Typical Volunteer Tasks: Typical volunteer tasks include working alongside doctors and nurses to assist in patient care, such as conducting assessments, monitoring vital signs, and providing support during procedures. Volunteers may also aid in administrative tasks, including assisting with admissions, organizing medical records, and facilitating communication between healthcare professionals and patients.

ARMENIAN WOUNDED HEROES FUND

Armenian Wounded Heroes Fund’s mission is to save, support and empower wounded warriors. The Fund has targeted programs specifically for the Defence Forces including supporting combat casualty care capabilities through advances first-aid kits and trainings, assisting front line infrastructure upgrades to protect armed forces (communications, running water, hygienic living conditions), and providing physical and mental rehabilitation of wounded heroes. Typical Volunteer Tasks: Volunteers often engage in teaching basic English to wounded soldiers, tailoring their instruction to the individual soldier’s level of knowledge, which may include conversational English or more advanced language skills. Additionally, volunteers contribute to the rehabilitation process by assisting with physical therapy sessions and offering psychological counseling support.

WIGMORE CLINIC

Wigmore Clinic is a state-of-the-art medical center offering both inpatient and outpatient services in orthopedics, trauma, sports medicine, spine surgery, vascular surgery, plastic and maxillofacial surgery, gynecology, cardiology, rheumatology, endocrinology, interventional radiology, dentistry, rehabilitation and many more. All conditions are created in the hospital to ensure maximum comfort of patients and high quality of treatment.

Typical Volunteer Tasks: Pre-med and med  interns and volunteers may shadow doctors, nurses, or other medical professionals to observe patient consultations, treatments, surgeries, and other procedures. May additionally assist with basic patient care tasks under supervision, such as taking vital signs, assisting with personal hygiene, helping patients with mobility, taking prescriptions. Interns may also provide administrative support to hospital staff, such as scheduling appointments, answering phones, responding to inquiries, and helping with clerical tasks.

NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF HEALTH (NIH)

The NIH operates under the supervision of the Ministry of Health. Its mission is to carry out activities aimed at developing the healthcare system in Armenia. Key activities of the institute include: development and implementation of continuing professional educational programs; development of clinical guidelines and manuals, design and implementation of healthcare related surveys, preparation of annual reports on health care in Armenia, development of healthcare policy documents, accreditation of trainings and seminars for medical personnel, Implementation of trainings on healthcare , implementation of health related projects in cooperation with international organizations, such as WHO, USAID, etc.

Typical Volunteer Tasks:  Volunteers have the opportunity to assist in organizing and conducting health education workshops and seminars, participate in outreach programs aimed at raising awareness of various health issues and promoting preventive measures, organize and manage campaigns, support ongoing research projects by collecting and analyzing data, assist in literature reviews, data entry, and statistical analysis for research studies and publications, conduct research to identify potential grant opportunities, assist in drafting grant proposals.

ALZHEIMER’S CARE ARMENIA (ACA)

ACA‘s mission is to inspire hope, transform lives and enhance the quality of life for people with Alzheimer’s disease and their families in Armenia. Their mission encompasses increasing visibility and awareness of Alzheimer’s, developing sustainable programs and services, and providing crucial training and education to healthcare professionals and family caregivers.

Typical Volunteer Tasks: Volunteers undertake various tasks such as supporting ACA’s initiatives, collaborating on developing projects with the Government and other NGOs to establish Memory Clubs and Healthy Aging Classes in Yerevan and potentially expanding to other cities like Gyumri and Vanadzor. Additionally, volunteers work alongside ACA’s Director and local coordinators to boost awareness and visibility of Alzheimer’s disease through educational outreach efforts.

SOURCE FOUNDATION SUPPORTING CHILDREN WITH DISABILITIES AND THEIR FAMILIES

The mission of SOURCE Foundation is to improve the quality of life of children with disabilities and their families, to promote their involvement in social life, and to create a prosperous environment for them. In addition, their vision is to promote children’s inclusion in society and the workplace, create needed services, and  ensure an improved quality of life in line with international standards. The organization seeks to raise awareness of and extend support to as many children and families as possible. In 2017, the Source Foundation established a day-care center for children with disabilities in Yerevan committed to development and rehabilitation through therapeutic art, speech, and physical activities.

Typical Volunteer Tasks: Volunteers are involved in various tasks including fundraising initiatives to support the organization’s programs, communication efforts to raise awareness about the foundation’s work, and assisting in organizational development activities. Moreover, volunteers have the opportunity to directly engage with the children at the development center, providing specialized care, support, and therapy.

ARMENIAN AMERICAN WELLNESS CENTER

Founded in 1997, the American Armenian Wellness Center is committed to save, prolong and improve the lives of women through early and accurate detection of their breast and cervical cancer and to provide primary health care services to ensure the good health and well-being of families in Armenia.
